Elevate your outdoor space and deck out your garden to perfection

Most gardens and outdoor spaces have slopes and tricky surfaces, so they aren’t used to their maximum advantage. With a well-made, beautifully designed garden decking, you can turn this space into a functional area for all to enjoy.

Ralston Contracts always consider your needs and budget so you get the most out of your garden and outdoor space. Elevate your Ayrshire garden with professionally installed decking.

Step up your garden with decking

Delectable decking to transform your garden

Choose from all shapes and sizes – from traditional timber to composite and even the up-and-coming millboard. We always advise how to best raise and access the area, including stilts, steps, and handrails.

No matter the size and function of your new decking, durability is vital. That’s why we offer aftercare packages so you can use your decking for many years.

We offer the following types of decking installation in Ayrshire:

Wooden Decking

Wooden decking

Using traditional timber for the frame and deck itself, we build a decking that’s both functional and looks great. We also offer follow-up maintenance support to keep your decking looking great for years.

Composite decking

Composite decking offers a more durable finish than wood. With a longer lifespan and lower maintenance, composite is becoming an increasingly popular decking material for good reason.

Millboard Decking

A new luxury decking material, millboard offers a highly durable and completely maintenance-free finish. With a more natural finish than composite, millboard has no plastic and you also get a seamless design, with no seams or screws on show.

Installing pergolas to enjoy your decking all year round

When you create an outdoor decking area, you don’t want it to be only used for those rare few sunny days…

To enhance your decking, we can add a pergola to the design so you can enjoy your new deck in all types of weather. Choose from traditional timber pergolas to modern aluminium designs with electrical rotating slats and lighting features.

With a pergola, you can install outdoor heaters and retractable shade and rain covers. This means you have the flexibility to use your space from a crisp winter’s evening to a beautiful summer’s day.

“On hiring John to deliver my dream garden from day one you know you have the right man, his attention to detail delivered a top class transformation… the journey was stress free, planned before the start so you had a timeline, garden and street kept clean at end of every single shift, worked in all weathers so no delays and a pleasure to deal with.

Don’t waste your time stressing and comparing the competition Ralston Contracts is top class… would hire again and recommend to my family and friends.”

FAQs: Decking installations in Ayrshire

What areas do you carry out decking projects?

We cover all of South, East, and North Ayrshire. Plus, we will travel down to the Dumfries and Galloway area, going as far as Lendalfoot and to the south side of Glasgow near East Kilbride.

Can you design my new decking if I’m unsure what I want?

Yes, we offer a landscape design consultation for all customers to ensure you get the design and finish you deserve, even if you’re not sure what that should look like. During the consultation, we will discuss your options and present some design options for you to choose from.

What’s better – timber or composite decking?

We can talk you through the pros and cons of each material, considering your budget and needs. Of all the options available, millboard is by far the superior option – but it comes with a higher price tag. Composite is a more premium product than timber; it’s more expensive, but the lower maintenance and longer lifespan make it a great option.

Can I see a visual design of my new decking?

Yes, if you want a hand-sketched design, we can provide that for you at the quotation stage. We also offer 3D design sketches which come at a small extra fee.

When can you fit my decking?

Our waiting times depend on our current projects in the diary. All new projects are first come, first served at our next available date – and we’ll let you know when we send your quote.

If you have a specific deadline to complete your decking installation, let us know when you get in touch and we can say if that’s realistic for us or not, so you don’t waste any time finding someone who can help.

Can you fix an existing decking?

If you have a damaged decking that’s a bit worse for wear, we can evaluate the condition to advise whether we can repair your decking or if it needs to be replaced. The process remains the same, so get in touch and we’ll take it from there.

How much do your services cost?

You can download our pricing guide for a rough idea, but all projects receive a personalised quote after a site visit based on the material choices, exact decking area size, and any elevation.

How do we pay for your services?

For each project, we ask for a 10% deposit to secure your date. Depending on the turnaround time and size of your job, we will either ask for 40% two weeks before and the final 50% on completion, or if you have a larger job, we split the payments into instalments of 25% to spread the cost further. All of this can be discussed when we send your personalised quote and project timeline.
